Lamp Life

_____________________________________________________________________

This is the quoted number of operating hours the manufacturer recommends for the lamp. We do not recommend resetting your projectors counter or removing and reconnecting the lamp to get extra hours. Most Home Cinema projectors will give you from 2000 hours to 6000 hours depending on the model. Micro portable and higher lumen projectors start at 1000 hours and normally will not exceed 2000 hours.

The lamp life is a major consideration as this is your only running cost. If your want to keep costs down and intend watching a movie a night a lower lumen projector with longer lamp life may be the best option.

We currently offer over 4000 replacement lamps most are available within a couple of days. Click Here to search for your lamp

Types Of Lamp

Halogen Lamps - These bulbs produce a warmer image on screen. This Lamp technology has been around for some time and is found in many different types of audio-visual projectors. When these Lamps burn out, they go immediately. Have some back-ups ready to go.

Metal Halide Lamps - These lamps produce a characteristically cooler image on screen. As these Lamps age, they tend to fade slowly over time. When the image on the wall doesn't seem to be as bright as it use to be, it's probably time for a new bulb.

Remember

Never to knock or bump your projector after a presentation. If you need to move the projector leave it until the fan has stopped running and the lamp has cooled down, when hot the filament is very fragile.

Conclusion

If we take the average price of a 2000 hour lamp at around $750 this would give you a cost per Hour of 37c.  Cheap by any ones standards. For a 6000 hour lamp your looking at 12c and if you were to watch 3 movies a week you will get 19 years service from the bulb! Even the 2000 hour lamp would last you nearly six and a half years.
